WELCOME TO KINDERGARTEN
Mrs. Missaggia
Welcome and thank you for choosing Saint Joseph Regional School’s Kindergarten. Your child’s classroom teacher is Mrs. Barbara Missaggia and Mrs. Donna O’Leary is the Kindergarten Teaching Aide.
The following is a brief outline of what you can expect from our school.
Prayer is an important part of our day
- At assembly each morning
- Before meals and snacks
- Special intentions
- To give thanks (impromptu)
Students are graded individually
- By teacher observation
- By portfolio of class work and tests
Copy of student progress report
- Graded two times: January and June
- Interim Reports given out three times in between to help assess student level
September and October Lessons: Listening skills and Social Interaction
- Saint Joseph Regional School encourages good self-esteem for students and staff.
- Positive role models are used for Kindergarten behavior. Many adults are teaching the students throughout the school week. (Gym, Art, Library, Computer, Science Lab, Music, Spanish) we all make a difference!
Regarding notes and mail
- All notes are carried to and from school in your child’s folder.
- Please notify Mrs. Missaggia of any information regarding your child. Let me know where I can help the day go smoothly.
Labeling
- Please label all personal items belonging to your child.
- Please label all money
- Enclose the money in an envelope with your child’s name and grade, purpose and amount written on the front of the envelope.
Parent Teacher Conferences
- Scheduled by appointment
- Suggested times: 7:30AM – 8:00AM or briefly after school.
Parent Involvement
- Practice pencil grip of students for writing.
- Please review all class work with your child.
- Re-teach when necessary. Directions are on the bottom of each worksheet.
Kindergarten Activities
- Holiday parties: Halloween, Lunch with Santa…..all are welcome!!!
- Classroom parents – sign up
- Class Trips in Kindergarten requires every child to have an adult chaperone.
