Grade 4 Newsletter

June 2010

I am sure you are all well aware that next week we will begin taking final exams.  The exam schedule was given to your child, and, hopefully, you have seen it.  They have also been given a review sheet on what will be covered on the exam.

We will go over things in class, but this should in no way be considered a substitute for studying at home.  Please make sure your child gets a good night’s rest, has breakfast, and tries to stay calm.

On Wednesday, June 16th we will be having our retreat here at St. Joseph in the community center.   This is always a very enjoyable and rewarding day.

I’d like to take this opportunity to thank you all for a great year.  I have truly enjoyed this class.  God has indeed blessed you with wonderful children.  Each is very special, and it has been a great privilege working with them.

Once more I would like to encourage you to make sure your child practices those math facts.  Often the problem a student has with math comes down to just not being able to recall the facts in a timely fashion.  A few minutes every day over the summer will make the challenges of fifth grade math a bit easier.

We’ve been using the website www.sadlier-oxford.com/math in school.  Click on Student Grade 4 and then Math Minutes.  From there you can choose the operation you want to practice.  In addition, I am told that your children will be able to continue working on Writing Roadmap over the summer.

They will be able to see their scores and critiques to help them improve their writing skills.   Please be sure to take advantage of the opportunity.  The website is www.WritingRoadmap2.com.  Your child has the password information needed.  If, however, they lose or can’t remember it, just call the school and leave a message.  I will get back to you as soon as possible.

Have a very safe and wonderful summer!
